CLASSES
108
Surya
Namaskar
Sundays • 120 minutes • Max 8 participants • Open level • Free
A calm, focused Hatha Sun Salutation practice. Sometimes guided with clear cues, sometimes counted with a simple mantra depending on the energy of the room. You are welcome whether you complete 10 or all 108.
The
benefits
Sun Salutations cultivate heat, focus, and consistency. Repetition builds mental steadiness, breath awareness, and physical stamina. Many practitioners find that completing even part of the sequence creates clarity, emotional release, and a deep sense of grounding.
The
Philosophy
In yogic tradition, 108 symbolises wholeness and alignment. It appears in sacred texts, the number of energy lines (nadis) that meet at the heart centre, the 108 marma points of the body, and the 108 beads of a mala used for meditation.
Practicing 108 Sun Salutations is a full Sadhana, spiritual practice. It includes pranayama, asana, mantra and mediation. The sun represents consciousness, vitality, and the source of all life. Surya Namaskar is a way of honouring light, energy, clarity, and the inner fire (agni) that fuels transformation.
Traditionally, Sun Salutations are practiced as a moving meditation. Each cycle links breath, movement, and awareness, helping to awaken the body’s subtle energy pathways. The practice is also an expression of gratitude: to the sun in the sky, and to the inner sun. The clarity, strength, and resilience within each of us.
